Hi-

I am not sure how to even begin looking at this since for the past 8 months this program has been installed on and functioned very normal, until about 12:00 today; when all of a sudden I get

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /.../blog/index.php on line 58 

When I look at line 58, i see

When I remove this everything works again. Even though my username and password is extremely strong—i’m wondering if someone could have hacked my site somehow….

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Apache XML Support (Trackbacks and Pings) and URL Segments

Hi guys,

I have run wizard.php to check my server. Despite PHP being compiled with XML support (and it all looking correct in phpinfo(); ), the wizard says that Pings and Trackbacks are not possible. Can anyone think of a reason for this?

Also, I am on Windows, so URL segments will be unsupported. Does this mean that I can’t use the “http://www.example.com/index.php/template_group/template/” format of URLs, even if modRewrite is set up correctly?

System:
Windows XP Pro SP3
Apache 2.2
PHP 5.3.2 (as an Apache module)
MySQL 5.? (all the MySQL tests check out fine in wizard.php)
EE Core 1.6.8 - when I install it!

Sitting behind a (School) Firewall and Staying Logged On problems

I have the latest core EE version.

I tested the version on XAMPP, works like a dream. Uploaded and install on a testing server, set up the same way and it logs me out every 5 minutes. I haven’t timed it, I log in, do a few things and then click, logged out.

I tested the same server from my home. No problems at all.

At school, we all sit behind a Kerio file server and I have had a few problems with FTP stuff in the past. This is frustrating because our IT dept are always absent and mostly incapable of resolving any technical issues anyway, but I thought I’d ask here to see if any one had a simple solution for me. Or at least one I could pass on to the technical team.

Need some help with the weblogs!!

Hello;
I am trying to do the getting started tutorial, but when I create the index page on my new template group, I have to select THAT index as the main home page for me to see it. But if I create the second template (called article), and do all the publishing and coding needed, when I want to preview it, the browser still shows me the index page of that template group.
I tried editing the template group and deselect the home page option, but when I do that, not even the index page works.

WHY??!!!!!!

Password reset broken in EE Core 1.6.8?

Hello, everyone.

I installed EE Core 1.6.8 for a potential client as a way to let them try it out, in hopes that I can get them to pay for the full version to use to manage their site, but I’ve hit a serious snag. One individual reported that he could not reset his password because the instructions that were supposed to have been mailed to him never arrived. I tried it myself to see if I encountered the same thing, and the mail arrived with no problem, but when I clicked on the link and had a new password sent to me, the new password doesn’t work.

Unfortunately, the old password doesn’t work, either, and none of the attempts I’ve made so far to reset the password again have been successful. I seem to be locked out of the control panel for the time being, which is not a good way to impress a potential client!

Can anyone suggest a way for me to fix this problem?

Active Directory/LDAP Extension Questions

Hello,

I’ve been reading through the forums about LDAP extensions, and from what I can tell nobody’s released an extension to the public. I’m therefore planning to code this myself, since it’s needed for a project I’m working on. I was hoping some kind soul might have the answers to the following questions:

1. Has a LDAP extension ever been completed and published? It would be nice to save time and reduce duplicated effort.

2. My reading of the documentation and source code leads me to believe that the way to implement a LDAP extension would be to hook login_authenticate_start, but that hook appears to be near the top of a very long function that handles automatic lockouts, IP address authentication, multiple logins, etc. Am I correct in concluding that I would need to replace all this functionality in my extension? All I’d really want to do is query the LDAP server instead of MySQL for the user’s password. Having to copy the remainder of the code into my extension would preclude its release under LGPL, which I think I might be able to convince my employer to let me do.

3. It appears that $this would be pointing to the wrong instance (the extension instead of an instance of Login) if I was to copy in the code to my hook handler. Since Login doesn’t appear to be a global variable, is there a way to retrieve it? Do I need to?

If it makes any difference, my employer is a non-profit, and we intend to purchase the Personal edition after development is complete. I hope we’ll be able to provide LDAP authentication as one of the features for our users.

Admin Problem

Running ExpressionEngine locally works well but when pushing it to the Linux based server the installation seems to work but running the administrator refuses to let me log in.

Everything checks out with the Wizard tool but can you tell me if there are specific client requirements for the admin screen? Cookies, etc?

Hi there,

I want to show all of the artist with 1 image of their work (work_pic). When they don’t have any work, I want to show their artist_pic. But I don’t understand how i get the artist_pic when i’m in the reverse_related_entries loop.

This is the code i’m using:

html comments suffering from entity conversion

My weblog entries are having the html comments converted to entities, or at least the < and > characters, which results in comments appearing on the page.

I have no formatting set on the weblog field, ie Formatting is set to none
The weblog posting preference is set to “allow ALL html”

The text is being sent to the weblog from Tinderbox. The output from Tinderbox when viewed as html behaves in the expected way with no conversion to entities and comments are not seen in the browser window.
However, when the entry appears in EE there has been entity conversion.
Pasting the content from TB to EE does not create the same problem.
Its only when the content is sent from TB to EE that the problem occurs.

If I add an html comment in the weblog field within EE the behavior is as expected with no entity conversion.

Can anyone suggest the likely cause of this problem and possible solutions.

SOLVED: Fatal Error Message

While making edits to templates on my local machine and uploading them to the server I suddenly rec’d the following error message when attempting to display a page in the browser.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 205200 bytes) in /home/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/core/core.template.php on line 699

I’ve been working on the site for several days so this problem is apparently due to a change I made in a template, or is it.

Can anyone point me to a source of information so that I can understand what it happening and possibly track down the cause.

I have no idea what the message is referring to, especially line 699??
