The site is primarily built using ExpressionEngine (I’d say 95 percent), at least, everything on the frontend with the exception of the order form, which uses CodeIgniter.

We also use CodeIgniter for internal stuff, like reports (earnings, signups, projections, etc.), managing cPanel/WHM servers (using an API that we developed), etc.

There are numerous APIs for EE and CI written that integrate with Twitter, a screen capture service, Nagios, URL shortner (YouURLs), eNom, Kayako, and ModernBill, and we’ll be integrating addons for Google Checkout, PayPal, and Amazon, most likely for CodeIgniter until we switch to EE 2.

The site was done entirely by myself, and took roughly 8 months to complete.

There are about 40 addons (either plugins, extensions, or modules) in use, and a majority of them were done by myself.

The site uses pure HTML5 markup and CSS3.

WIZO Florida Site Redesign in EE

Hey Everyone -

I just launched a new EE site for an organization in Florida at http://www.WIZOfl.org. It is my first site using the FoxEE module (my first e-commerce site in general actually). While the client is still filling some content holes and setting up their merchant services account, the site is in working order (not the way I like to launch, but sometimes you have to).

The original site is located at http://www.WIZOfl.org/old. I think we’ve definitely made strides in a more engaging site, which is always nice. ExpressionEngine makes it entirely possible for them to update nearly everything on the site.

Again, another project that wouldn’t have been possible without EE.

My first EE site

Hi all,

just wanted to post my first EE site. I’m really starting to fall in love with EE. All the coding was done in about two weeks. Not knowing a single line of EE-tags from the beginning I was suprised how fast I could accomplish my goals. I know there is still a lot to learn but I must say I’m very happy with the result. Please have a look.

Without you guys on the forum the work would have been a lot harder.

eMarketSouth redesign

We finally had a breather from major client work and managed to get our own site’s redesign done and launched today. We weren’t happy with the inflexibility of the old site, wanted to have more control over where things showed up, wanted to categorize our portfolio, add client testimonials, and make it a bit more attractive… so we went with a ground-up rewrite of everything.

Still running EE 1.6 due to some fieldtypes not having gotten ported over to 2.0 yet.

Hopefully now that we’ve got a more traditional blog area I’ll get around to writing every now and again

Intuitive Designs

We have just redesigned our site and moved it from Wordpress to ExpressionEngine 2.0.

I’ve been wanting to move to ExpressionEngine for our site for a long time, but kept delaying it for one reason or another. We’re still working out small bugs here and there, it doesn’t work totally well yet on IE7, and we haven’t moved over the blog comments yet, but here it is!

Irish Beer Finder

We recently launched http://www.irishbeerfinder.com. It is built using Expression Engine and makes use of Jason Farrell’s wonderful Geofinder and Geotagger modules.

This site is a subsidiary site of http://www.slbc.ie which has numerous subsites all managed using the multi site manager. I have found Expression Engine ideal for developing both these sites.
I hope you like them… and try the beer!

I have used only that which is shipped with ee.

I used the first six screencasts from Ryan Ireland to get started: well worth the time and money.

Travel Industry Sites

This month we launched sabreairlinesolutions.com which will eventually use MSM and be available in several languages.

Last year we launched sabretravelnetwork.com which uses MSM and has multiple languages (Spanish, Portuguese, UK English, French, German, Italian, Arabic, Russian).

Both are built on 1.6.8 with the following extensions: LG TinyMCE, File, Checkbox and Last Segment.

Koko FitClub

Koko FitClub came to us through Michael McClung and his advertising/marketing company, Atlantic Interactive. The developers that had originally been contracted to build the site had failed to deliver anything and deadlines were looming. We took over development and got everything back on track. This site launched a couple weeks ago now but I’m just now getting around to writing about it

Some of the more interesting requirements were due to the franchise nature of the company: new locations needed to be easy to add, franchise vanity urls needed to be advertising-friendly without making a mess of things (duplicate content issues, etc.), visitors needed to be able to find nearby locations quickly, and we needed to be able to allow the people managing the advertising campaigns to perform A/B split testing and track conversions.

Fortunately our ExpressionEngine experience allowed us to rapidly and elegantly meet all requirements on schedule. Each franchise location can be assigned its own subdomain directly within EE… no messing around with DNS or server configuration. Custom maps using the Google Maps API were created to allow users to find nearby locations and driving directions using a familiar map interface. We also allowed for each location to have its own PPC campaign for conversion tracking and reporting purposes.

The subdomain redirect takes place in the header template that is embedded on every page. It stores the location’s entry_id in the user’s session and some code in path.php pops this value through to the templates as a variable to be used in weblog:entries tags on various pages throughout the site.

Didn’t use much in the way of addons… just fieldframe, FF Matrix, Iain’s WYMeditor extension, CoolLocation (modified to correct a couple of bugs for canada) and the nGen File Field.

Had a blast developing this one, probably my favorite site so far.
