Bio

Well Iphigenie (Iphi) is a screen name, of course. I’ve been online on some network or other under that name since about 1988, it’s almost my middle name now.

I am a theoretical physicist by training, have worked as a sales manager, internet manager and coach, trainer, journalist, web -architect -engineer -designer -programmer -administrator, database developer, grumpy-sysadm… and allround internet witch. As I say at the end of my business profile “I have accumulated 15 years of business and technical experience in unlocking the value of the Internet.”

I moved to the UK in 2000 to work for a press group. Co-created a web design company in 2002, grew it to 20+ people. I then decided to move on.

————————————————————-

My private site started on my own perl code around 1998. I then added pmachine on the front of this, to have the main content and news run via pmachine, then the games database and news section on my own old code.

When ee first came out I tried to move everything into it, and gave up. Back then it was not easy to have related content, and my trial period expired before I had time to make it work.

At some point in the winter 2006-2007 I noticed that EE now had related content and I imported all my games content into it. Of course this is a hobby site so I didnt have that much time to spend on it, busy as I was with my own company so I left a lot of things turned off which didnt carry over all too well, from membership to the photos and the random “quote” blocks which I used to randomly show favorite things.

Now I now and then try to fix one of them again. Current peeve is to re-establish the membership and comments bit. But that is turning out more painful than it seems since it has to be turned on for each piece of content!
