        <p>Hi,
</p>
<p>
I just upgraded to 1.6.4 and everything during the upgrade process ran smoothly.&nbsp; I then re-installed the Forums software, as stated in the upgrade instructions.
</p>
<p>
When I try and access the site I just get a blank screen.&nbsp; I also tried the control panel, and it is just a blank screen too.&nbsp; I did a &#8220;View Source&#8221; in my browser, and there isn&#8217;t any HTML at all.
</p>
<p>
Any idea what might&#8217;ve gone wrong?&nbsp; I double checked permissions, and everything looked fine.
</p>
<p>
As it was important for me to get the site back online, I had to revert to the backup (which launched fine.)
</p>
<p>
Any thoughts would be appreciated before I attempt this again.
</p>

<p>
Hello everyone:
</p>
<p>
I&#8217;ve done several upgrades since 1.4.2 and right now I am trying to install upgrade 1.6.4 and I receive the following error:
</p>
<p>
</p><div class="codeblock"><code>
<span style="color: #0000BB">An error occurred </span><span style="color: #007700">while </span><span style="color: #0000BB">attempting to fetch your config</span><span style="color: #007700">.</span><span style="color: #0000BB">php file</span><span style="color: #007700">. </span><span style="color: #0000BB">The file seems to contain no configuration values</span><span style="color: #007700">.</span>
</code></div><p>
</p>
<p>
I have backed-up the config.php and config_bak.php as well as path.php
</p>
<p>
They have the right permissions.
</p>
<p>
The files have content, they&#8217;re not blanks.
</p>
<p>
I cannot get to run the script. It is kicking the same error message.
</p>
<p>
I&#8217;d appreciate your prompt help
</p>
<p>
p.s. I can send you my config.php and path.php if you need to see it.

        <p>I upgraded from 1.4.2 to 1.5.2 over a year ago, but at that time, the upgrade wizard did not change the version number, although the upgrade was working. Then I tried upgrading again and ran into the same problem I am now having today. Everything goes fine until I try to run the upgrade wizard to upgrade to 1.6.4. All files have been transferred but the update wizard gives me an error:

My site is offline at the moment and I don&#8217;t know what I need to do next in order to complete the upgrade and have it know it completed the upgrade. I&#8217;ve tried these upgrades at least 3 times with versions between 1.5.2 and 1.6.4 and given up. Today I want to get this done right. Please help.

I have 1300 entries, so it&#8217;s not something I want to fix manually. Can I delete the database, create a new one, start importing from scratch, and avoid this? Or not?

</p>
<p>
I am getting a very strange behavior after uploading a fresh EE software to my server. After uploading all the software files, either when I try run the install.php or index.php, a download window opens up to force download the .php file. This never happened to me before. I want the site to display and not to force download the .php file. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

        <p>hello everybody.
</p>
<p>
i keep having problems with login to my ee installations.
<br />
<i><span style="color:gray;">btw.: the whole backend/frontend/with cookie/without cookie/with session id/or mixed -security/login thing is totally confusing me.</span></i>
</p>
<p>
however, i have two kinds of problems:
</p>
<p>
<b>1.</b>
<br />
user can’t login (backend). there is no error message.
<br />
ee adds a session id to the url but the user is constantly being redirected to the backend login-screen.
<br />
i tried the config.php stuff but no luck. this is critical since i need to change something soon.
</p>
<p>
<b>2.</b>
<br />
user is logged in (backend).
<br />
the user is super admin. the site is offline.
<br />
but the user can’t see the site.
</p>
<p>
<span style="color:red;">The weirdest thing though is:</span>
</p>
<p>
when i use cookies only, ee parses the session id within the templates everywhere i used
</p>
<blockquote><p>&#123;path="site_index"&#125;</p></blockquote>
<p>
o.O
<br />
what&#8217;s that?
</p>
<p>
update:
<br />
on other ee installations i can’t log out.
<br />
i believe ee has problems if one is managing different sites
<br />
using different ee installations within the same browser.
<br />
gosh … sometimes i really like to throw ee out of the window … <img src="http://ellislab.com/images/smileys/wink.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="wink" style="border:0;" />
</p>
<p>
these problems appear as soon as i change to »use cookie only« mode.
<br />
i&#8217;m using version 1.6.3. i have the index.php removed via .htaccess.
</p>
<p>
thanks in advance! <img src="http://ellislab.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" />
