I thought I would pick the brain of the lovely EE community to see if anyone knew of any good resources for dynamically creating charts & graphs.

I’m thinking LESS about an extension and MORE about a third party service you can create graphs/charts and have a client copy/paste and embed them.

I know Google charts can do some pretty great stuff but I would like to give my client the flexibility to make any sort of chart on their own in a very easy-to-do way.

Any ideas?

This has historically been a difficult process too explain to clients/users.
There are many plugins/workrounds that have evolved over time, but the new File Manger sounded like it was going to make the whole process easier.
I have been trying out 2.0 and found that it it is in fact harder than it was under 1.6 and the plugins etc. aren’t available for 2.0 yet.

I am not sure if this is a feature request or just a prayer. This is how I would like to see the process of adding one or more images to an entry somewhere in the text flow.

1. Click image link with the cursor where you want the image.
2. Pop-up with a browse to file to upload.
3. Clean the filename to be url friendly.
4. Automatically resize the image to the maximum size set in upload preferences (if larger).
5. Create a thumbnail (and put it in a separate thumbs folder for easy gallery type display options) automatically sized to that set in the preferences.
6. Insert the image code for the thumbnail and a link to the larger version where the cursor is positioned and then close the pop-up.

It would be nice if the code for the Image button could be configurable to allow custom setups of thumbnail alignment (left or right), where to open the full sized image (pop-up, lightbox, or gallery page etc.)

I’ve been using the enterprise CMS Jadu at work and its workflow has made me think about how I use EE.

One of my gripes about EE is the inability to assign member’s to multiple groups.

Someone at Jadu said something and it clicked with me. Have a “Content Author” group who can post to ALL weblogs but the status is set to “pending” (or whatever) by default.

There should then be a notification sent to person(s) within a “Content Approver” group who is able to change the status to open.

Publishing mechanism complete.

I’m aware that there’s NSM Publish Plus but wondering if my above lightbulb can be applied using default EE?

The above setup would take the onus off myself updating our church website and allow church members to submit their own content for the site and allow me to concentrate on the design/development.

Wondering if anyone has done this one way or another - lessons learned? Gotchas?

It seems like you might want to remove in case you use anchor tags, that will mean tweaking the default behavior of many EE tags. Or just .htaccess rewrite, but would still need to tweak in sitemap generation.

Thoughts?
