Needless to say, this is useful when you’re using a “weblog as gallery”.

Unfortunately, right now this only works on a field whose Field Type is “File” – which is another 3rd-party extension, by Mark Huot. You can get File by Mark Huot here.

You enter one field id (the field id for the File field you have) – and Weegee will put a thumb from that field on the Edit page (see attached pic). This also only works with one weblog right now. Updates will happen if anyone has suggestions - or anyone cracks this open and sees cool ways to update it. Suggestions welcome.

You can download Weegee here.

I’ve written an extension that allows for the addition of a Markitup field type, which you can set to Textile or Markdown, or XHTML, etc (on each individual field - note in the picture how each field type can have its own button settings).

I could release it, but I’m goin’ nuts trying to solve one last hard-coded thing under the hood. (I also should make sure the license allows...although I’m not including markitup in the download...you have to go get that yourself)

So if any brave souls who have Extension writing experience would like to try this out, look under the hood and see if anything needs optimizin’, and maybe help me solve the issue (which is pretty much a JavaScript/jQuery issue) so no one ever has to open the ext file for anything, it would be appreciated.

If you’re interested, just PM me and I’ll get you the test files as soon as I can. I may not be up for a while, though...it’s 2:30am here...time for sleep.

This is now available at my Markitup Extension page.

After coming across the very cool Textile Editor Helper plugin for Slate via this forum post a while back, I’ve been kicking around the idea of trying an extension for it. So I just did and thought I’d see if anyone finds it useful, or has any feedback on on my additions.

If anyone’s interested in trying it out I’ve attached it here, and an image to give you the idea. The original version didn’t have link or email buttons, so I added those as well, though one of the Slate guys told me they’d be adding that in the next version so hopefully their implementation will be nicer. I didn’t add the preview as I thought it would compete with EE’s own preview area and be confusing. Though a live preview could be cool, if perhaps overkill.

I’d love to hear what people think of this idea (as well as anything I could do to improve the extension itself of course).

I was having an impossible time getting reverse_related_entries to work with categories - all I needed to do was store a related entry’s entry_id in a field - so that’s all this does.

Simple Relation looks and works identically to a native Relationship field type, but it avoids the relationship table altogether, creating a very “simple” relationship by storing only the related entry_id. This way you can use EE’s built-in weblog:entries “search” parameter to filter entries - which might be easier than trying to mess with Reverse Related Entries and multiple embeds when trying to sort by category. It may have other uses, but that’s all I need it for. Might save you from having to use the Query module, too.

Playa is a powerful one-to-many field loosely based on Mark’s Multi-Relation extension.

Unlike the others, it enables you to…

- Pull content from multiple weblogs
- Limit the number of selectable entries
- Order your selections with drag-and-drop
- Close your entries and mean it
- Set selections as searchable

Like Relationship and Multi-Relation fields, Playa uses the related_entries template tag:

I’ve had some fun developing an extension that provides Google Maps geocoding directly in the CP. To use this extension you’ll have to sign up for a site key from Google. Then enter it in the extension settings. From there you can add a new geo field and when you go to publish you’ll see a blank Google Map. Clicking on the map will add a marker and then clicking on a marker again will remove it. You can also drag the markers around the map (all thanks to the wonderful GMaps2 API).

To use this in a template you can just drop the field name and it will output a 300x300 map. You can customize the width/height with their respective attributes. So, assuming my field was named office_location the code would look like this

{office_location width="400px" height="200px"}

There are a bunch of attributes you can set, they are as follows:

key="” To override the key set up in your CP.
x="” To override the default centering.
y="” To override the default centering.
zoom="” To override the default zoom.
center_on_points="false" To have the map use the default centering, not the center of the points
show_empty="true" Will show a map even when no points have been defined

Finally, if you don’t like my default map then you can get to the raw data as follows:

{office_location_raw}
{latitude}, {longitude}
{/office_location_raw}

To clarify, just append a “_raw” to the field name and then inside of that pair you can use the {latitude} and {longitude} variables to return each points location. The pair will loop for as many locations as you have.

Have fun!
