Although my site:http://www.concretehermit.com has been online for a while I thought I’d mention it here as Ive just done a couple of tweaks and as it was recently highligted here:designmeltdown as a good example of an eCommerce site.

I designed the site using EE and integrated a paypal shopping cart using custom fields to create an easy way to update new products: In the pre EE days updates took ages and required a lot of re-programing. Although there is no stock level control I use MYOB software to take care of that side. I’ve found EE a very cost effective way of adding increased functionality and ease of use to the site - I use the mailing list and have a more conventional ‘blog’ which feeds the ‘news’ section on the site Index. I am currently working on a simple eCommerce site and will recommend a similar approach using EE to the client.

I’d like to know your thoughts…

I am very happy to announce another EE site into the wild. I just launched http://westhills.org for West Hills Community Church. Really digging the church sites of late. Lots of content and fun things to play with like S3 integration and audio and video players and stuff. Anyway, this site used the following add-ons:

Solspace Freeform
Fresh Variables
Link List
Structure
Solspace Tag
LG .htaccess Generator
Accessible Captcha
Clone Entries
LG Sitename
FieldFrame
Required Category
TruncHTML
Solspace Repeet

and a few others.

The biggest pieces of the site are the Calendar and the Sermons section. The Calendar was made possible by some standard EE code and the Repeet plugin. And the sermons are made possible by some JQuery magic and FieldFrame, FF Matrix and BucketList. The client loves the integration of Amazon S3 with EE using BucketList. Good stuff!

Anyhoo. I hope you like it…

Guys, I just wanted to announce here in the forums (before anyone else knows!) that we’re making the Woothemes’ templates available for ExpressionEngine 2.0.

The first three themes I’ve converted are CoffeeBreak, FreshNews and Bueno. Bueno is all free so you can download it and play around with it - and give me some feedback !

Read the announcement here: http://woourl.com/ee

Also, if you’re pondering becoming a Woo-affiliate, here are some cool banners for you:
http://woothemes.com/ads/ee/ (if you’re not an affiliate already you can sign up here)

IMHO this is great news both for Woothemes and ExpressionEngine!

Let me know what you think!

Hi everyone!

I recently completed the first iteration of my personal site/blog http://www.kyletress.com. I’m an athlete on the US skeleton team and a web designer. I became hooked on ExpressionEngine thanks to Ryan’s screencasts and I’m constantly impressed by its flexibility.

I haven’t had a chance to test the site much in IE besides viewing some Adobe BrowserLabs screenshots. I use a lot of CSS3 progressive enhancement techniques here, so things might look a bit different if you’re one IE.

I used the Twitter Timeline plugin, and I’m considering SL Google maps to show the places I travel for training and competition.

I’d love to hear you feedback!

We recently completed a redesign of the songwriting community website Songwriter101.com, along with the good people at BMI (also an ee site).

http://www.songwriter101.com/

The site was previously in pMachine. Along with the move to ee and the new look, the site features a complete redesign of the ee forums, which is a big task but proved worth it in the end:

Forum home: http://www.songwriter101.com/forums

Here’s an overview of the redesign on my blog if you want to read more:
