        <p>Hi,
</p>
<p>
I&#8217;ve been a CodeIgniter user for a year and I more than interested in the upcoming EE 2.0. A robust, flexible and extensible CMS on top of CI.
</p>
<p>
So far when it comes to CMS based sites I&#8217;ve used Textpattern (which together with MODx and other handful of CMSs share, up to some some point, some of the flexibility concepts of EE&#8230; &#8220;Custom content types&#8221;, Content tags...) due to its support for <b>multiligual content publishing</b> (via the MLP extension, not a core functionality though) and localisation of templates.
</p>
<p>
Handling multilingual websites is a requirement for the vast majority of our clients, as we live in a region that 3 different languages are commonly spoken. <b>So we need seamless core support for multilingual content management. No hacks or workarounds.</b>
</p>
<p>
<b>How will be the EE 2.0 support like for this?</b>
</p>
<p>
Thanks for your help!

        <p>Currently we are using phpmydirectory software and are contemplating on purchasing EE for the Forum &amp; Blogs section. We want to know if we can have a single sign-on for both these software. Hence when a user registers on our site the details are stored in the phpmydirectory database. On going to the forum page the user is automatically is logged in EE.
<br />
There might be 2 ways of doing this
<br />
1) Disabling EE member database and using only phpmydirectory member database.

2) When user registers in phpmydirectory, automatically information is replicated and saved in EE member database.

Kindly help as this is critical.

        <p>Hello everyone,
</p>
<p>
1) I have signed up for the demo account and am surprised to learn that there
<br />
is only one template available for it. When I say &#8220;one template&#8221; I am talking
<br />
about the sitewide look and feel as opposed to the templates of the individual
<br />
components. I know that there are third party templates out there but does the
<br />
full blown version of EE come with more than the one template I already have?
</p>
<p>
2) The home page of the above default template is divided into boxes or
<br />
rectangles if you will. The top of the content area contains a box that contains
<br />
the most recent post. The top of the sidebar contains a box that contains &#8220;about&#8221;
<br />
information. The top of these boxes are NOT aligned vertically. The top of the
<br />
Above box is higher up than the top of the blog post box. This isn&#8217;t some minuscule
<br />
difference - it hit me like a truck as soon as I looked at the template. This is
<br />
true for me in both IE and Firefox.
</p>
<p>
I know that I am anal but I can&#8217;t believe that this is right in the middle of the
<br />
first screen that you see on the default template that comes with every EE license.
<br />
Could someone share some thoughts about this? Is there a reason why this can&#8217;t be
<br />
fixed? Am I the only one who cares about this stuff - and btw, I&#8217;m not even a
<br />
designer.
</p>
<p>
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

        <p>Hello everyone,

<p>
I know a lot of folks have asked &#8220;how do I integrate my blahblah shopping cart with EE?&#8221;, but for my purposes I don&#8217;t mind keeping them as separate applications (I think <img src="http://ellislab.com/images/smileys/smile.gif" width="19" height="19" alt="smile" style="border:0;" /> )
</p>
<p>
But what I *would* like to do is integrate the user accounts for both EE and Pinnacle Cart (www.pinnaclecart.com)  Pinnacle Cart is a php-based shopping cart with (if memory serves me correctly) a MySQL database backend.&nbsp;
</p>
<p>
I&#8217;ll have two types of customers:&nbsp; people who want to buy my products, and people who want to socialize in a community.&nbsp; Those two types aren&#8217;t mutually exclusive however, so I&#8217;d like for them to only have to register once and use that account on either the Pinnacle Cart side or the EE side.
</p>
<p>
I&#8217;ve read just a bit about this aMember plugin...is that the solution?&nbsp; Can anyone fill me in on how aMember would solve my problem, or how else I would accomplish this?
</p>
<p>
Thanks, looking forward to using EE! *crosses fingers*

I&#8217;m not saying I should base my decision entirely on what&#8217;s the most widely used system, but I want to make sure there are enough EE users to keep it around for a long time. <p>Warm greetings to everyone,
</p>
<p>
I would like to incorporate the following functionality into an EE site. I am NOT asking for a detailed how-do-you-do-this type of answer. LOL And needless to say, I DON&#8217;T expect EE to do this out of the box. I know that implementing this will involve tweaking EE as well as doing some custom programming - at a minimum!
</p>
<p>
However, what I DO want to know is this - is it reasonable for me to expect the existing capabilities of EE to be able to handle a large percentage of this or should I forget about tweaking EE and look in the direction of a custom php script and db to accomplish what I want - having the php script use whatever template my EE site is using as the &#8216;framework&#8217; for the display of the data?
</p>
<p>
I only have a minimal amount of EE experience and am not a programmer so I&#8217;m not sure what the answer is. I certainly don&#8217;t want to reinvent the wheel if I don&#8217;t have to and was wondering if there was a way to do this with EE categories - or some other built in feature.
</p>
<p>
Lastly, I&#8217;m not asking if one could theoretically customize EE to do this but whether it makes sense - when the alternative is to do all of this in an external way with a custom php script and then integrate THAT with EE. In any event, here is what I want to do.
</p>
<p>
I want to create a variation of a classic directory and integrate it into an EE site.
</p>
<p>
The directory will have categories and subcategories. The home page of the directory will be a multi-column display of the categories - and select subcategories - similar to DMOZ or Yahoo.
</p>
<p>
There will be a hierarchy of pages. The home page will have all of the categories. Each category page will have a listing of it&#8217;s subcategories. Each subcategory page will have the actual listings. A classic directory hierarchy.
</p>
<p>
Needless to say, all of this information will be stored in a db and the display of this information - from the top level categories to the individual listings - will be programmatically based.
</p>
<p>
I need complete control over what fields will make up a record and how this data is programmatically displayed. Among other things that means, the number of columns of categories on the home page of the directory, the number of listings that are displayed on a subcategory page, which fields will be a part of the public listing, the order in which those listings are sorted, the aesthetics of each listing in terms of fonts, spacing etc.
</p>
<p>
Simple automatic navigation should be built into the bottom of each listing page. In other words, if there are 25 listings in a specific subcategory, and I specify that I want to display 10 listings per page - that would require 3 pages. The first page should have a &#8220;Next page&#8221; created at the bottom. The second page should have a &#8220;Previous&#8221; and a &#8220;Next&#8221; automatically created etc. Once again, classic directory functionality.
</p>
<p>
Lastly, the solution must include a customized search capability. This will involve custom programming as the search capability will be more complicated than simply searching for a phrase - it will be searching multiple fields of the db.
</p>
<p>
The search results should be displayed in the same manner as if you were browsing the directory and had navigated to a subcategory page with listings.
</p>
<p>
So ... should I try to use Expression Engine&#8217;s built in functionality to accomplish what I want to do (with some custom programming supplementing it)&#8212;or look to a completely external customized script solution with it&#8217;s own db?
</p>
<p>
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts with me about this.
</p>
<p>
Cheers,
</p>
<p>
