Welcome to 2009, New EE Resources
I hope everyone had a great holiday break. We got some much needed rest and are re-energized for 2009.
On January 1st Derek Jones flew into Bend Oregon for our yearly company review with Rick. It was a grand time but it also means we worked all weekend and came back to overflowing, post-holiday inboxes. They were subsequently conquered and we’re officially ready to get this new year under way.
There are two house cleaning issues I need to mention. Over the weekend we decided to remove the “Official Announcements Forum”. We posted about it without a discussion link and several emailed asking why we were killing EE Blog post discussions. The answer is, we aren’t. For that one post I didn’t set up a discussion thread because it was just an announcement. You’ll notice this post has a discussion link. Second, we have taken down the blog at EllisLab for the time being. With so much activity happening over here it was impossible to keep it updated. We may bring it back in some way shape or form in the future, but for right now consider the EE Blog, the CI Blog, and the @EllisLab Twitter account the official company news, um, channels.
Of course, the real reason you are reading this is for 2.0 news. At this point I’m obligated to gently remind you we promised an update the second week of January, which is next week. Specifically the next 2.0 update will be 1 week from today on Friday January 16th and a second update on friday January 30th (or thereabouts). In any case, there will be at least two 2.0 updates from us this month to keep everybody in the loop.
If you haven’t heard yet Ryan Irelan & company launched EE Insider, an amazing ExpressionEngine resource site with all sorts of goodies.

So far there are tutorials, commentary, and tips on everything from 3rd party development, social networking, commerce, and software. Ryan also hosts a free, live, EE Help Chat on Wednesdays. Last Wednesday Derek Allard, Greg Aker, and I stopped by for awhile. I can’t promise that someone from EllisLab will be there every week but we do stop by, say hi, and try to support the cause there.
In other news Kurt Deutscher (from NetRaising) launched eeSiteKit, “a pre-coded template and site framework for professional and emerging website designers and developers.”

If you’ve ever wondered how NetRaising is able to build super cost-effective websites for non-technical, non-profit clients, eeSiteKit gives a lot of insight into it and Kurt is happy to help share and educate people on the process.
And last but not least, people have been sending links and updates to me on various EE projects to talk about on the blog. I’ve received them and I’m in the process of organizing them. I hope to get “community updates” back on track next week. If you have something you want mentioned on the EE Blog, please .
