ExpressionEngine 2.0 Public Beta, Now Live!

We are very proud to introduce ExpressionEngine 2.0 Public Beta to the world. Now. Today.

We want to give a big, warm thank you to the 500+ people who participated in the private beta program. From the seasoned EE veterans to the complete new comers, your input shaped EE 2.0 significantly and you should be proud of your efforts. I also want to give a big thank you to the EllisLab team for slaying yesterday’s issue with a vengeance. You did us proud.

Now, let’s get to it!

We’ve setup a Public Beta section with all the information you need to get started right away.

This includes a video tour by community super hero Ryan Irelan, F.A.Q., free 30-day full version trial of ExpressionEngine 2.0 PB, the User Guide, all First Party Add-ons, and links to Tech Support and the Bug Tracker. For compatible 3rd party add-ons, check out Devot-ee.com, a stellar community run site dedicated to EE add-ons.

If you want to use ExpressionEngine 2.0 PB for live projects (which the entire point of a Public Beta) you can upgrade a EE 1.x license for as little as $50. Our support staff and development team have set aside dedicated time to make sure the Public Beta goes as smooth as humanly possible. We’re here for you.

When you purchase or upgrade to ExpressionEngine 2.0 PB your download will include EE 1.6.8. Your license allows you to use one or the other. This means you can start with EE 1.6.8 for your live site, evaluate 2.0 PB on a private installation, and upgrade at your own pace.

Or, if you prefer not to participate in the Public Beta, ExpressionEngine 1.6.8 is available as a separate purchase. We’re not forcing anybody to do so, just like we promised.

There is oh so much more to talk about, which is why we’ll continue on with our EE 2.0 Dev progress updates (now a category in the blog sidebar). The next update will be on Tuesday, December 8th. But I suspect we will see you on the forums a lot sooner!

Cheers!
