EE Support Forums: Restructure
I want to take a moment to share with you our plans for the Support Forums.
As we prepare for EE 2.1, and look at the growth in our community, a forum restructure has become a priority for our support and community needs.
What does that mean for you? The ExpressionEngine Support Forum Board, as you see it now, will be placed into an archive, read-only mode at a new URL. The forum board will still be searchable and accessible, but no new content will be added.
A new forum board will be present at the current location, expressionengine.com/forums. This new forum board places the emphasis on our Community and ExpressionEngine 2 while providing the legacy support EE 1.x deserves. Here is a preview of what you will find when the Community Forums refresh goes live (it will happen simultaneously with 2.1’s release):

We have worked with our Community Partners to ensure that important resources on their sites are preserved. We are also implementing 301 Redirects to ensure that links and bookmarks for EE 1.x support continue to function as expected.
In order to ease this transition, links will appear at the top of each forum; and a search on the primary Support Forums can easily be sent, via a link we will present on the Search Results page, to the archive.
We understand that this is a big change, but we believe it is the best way to grow our Community and continue to provide the best support possible for ExpressionEngine 2.x and legacy support for ExpressionEngine 1.×. When the transition happens our staff will be on full alert and ready to help out however we can.
The ExpressionEngine Discussion Forums started over 8 years ago; first on pMachine.com and then on ExpressionEngine.com using the Discussion Forum module after it was introduced.
Those forums have a rich and diverse history and have helped thousands of people – in hundreds of thousands of threads – to learn ExpressionEngine, gets their projects underway, network, and to be a part of a thriving community. Without the forums; there would be far less interaction and our community would likely not exist in the form it does today.
I am proud of our forums and prouder yet of our community. Those forums are why I am writing this now – without those forums, I and many others may have followed another path.
ExpressionEngine 2 heralds a new era for for the ExpressionEngine Community. We go into this with high hopes and high expectations. It will be a grand adventure.
