Beta1 Drawing to a Close
Beta1, without question, has been a resounding success. We’ve said that already but as Beta1 enters its final days its worth saying again.
We hit a significant milestone last week with a UI breakthrough that the entire team is thrilled with. Based on the feedback from Team Beta, the custom click tracking, and working with the talented Veerle Pieters we’ve kept what worked best, cut out what wasn’t working at all, and redesigned a few key points. In all the changes may appear small but their impact is looking to be significant. The dev team is currently building these UI updates into our internal 2.0 build.
I’m not promising but rather am expressing hope that the application for Beta2 will be available prior to the next 2.0 blog update.
I’ve been thinking about the feedback I received from the last update. In summary some people are wanting us to go into more detail about EE 2.0. After thinking this through the last two weeks, our answer to that is no. We’re not going to do that until the beta process is complete and we have a concrete release date set.
We’ve always been champions of helping people succeed so if knowing that we’re not going to give 2.0 details until after the beta rounds are complete enables you to make a good decision and move a project forward, we’ve done our job.
However, we don’t want to be complete scrooges with 2.0 information. When we’re ready to start taking Beta2 applications will give more detail about what’s included in Beta2 which will, by default, provide more information on 2.0. Hopefully that’s a solution that provides the most positives for the most people.
We will continue to provide progress updates on how the beta is going and how 2.0 development is progressing. We’re committed to transparency in the development process so if a roadblock shows up, you’ll know.
Right now the road is looking mighty clear and Beta2 is in our sights.
