It’s working fine for me on the latest EE build on multiple servers…

Get any PHP warnings?

Hello! Just wanted to add my thanks to Cocoaholic for this excellent extension, which I successfully downloaded and installed in a flash. Also, I love your profile image! You’d probably like Russel Brand’s website too - for fun eye following bizness. http://www.russellbrand.tv/

Cocoaholic, it’s great to have you in this community.
I wanted to simplify the publish form, so I change the weblogs publish form preferences with “Publish Page Customization”, the only thing it’s missing for me is “Show All as default”.
When I found your extension I thought I was saved, but it doesn’t work for me, I have EE 1.6.4, Tab Forward (v.1.1) downloaded today.

It seems to enable ok, and going to settings it shows the options, but it doesn’t save changes when I submit.

Any thoughts?

The extension has been tested and works fine with EE 1.6.4.
There could be a conflict with another extension though, what other extensions are you using?

Cocoaholic,

Neat plugin.. Just found it now. Good idea for a plugin. And just out of curiosity, have you ever considered making it so you can even hide tabs from particular weblogs to not even show up at all? I’d actually prefer it my editors not even touch the date tabs and for that matter, a slew of other things. Not that I don’t trust their judgement or anything, but you never know..

You can turn tabs off, see: “Weblog Management” -> “Edit Preferences” -> “Publish Page Customization”

Hi there, this is the only extension I have now, I had TinyMCE before, but now this is the only one.
And, turn tabs off?
In the options I see at Publish Page Customization I can disable menus, but I want to show all the others at once, because all posts at some weblogs should have a category selected

You just want to show all tabs at once? Can’t you just enable them all back?

@mencargo The “turn tabs off” was an answer to mr_dimsum’s question, not yours.

Ok, let’s go back to the problem you mentioned.
I have no idea why the extension doesn’t work for you, Sue had this same problem a while back and I have asked her (via PM) if she ever found the solution.

Do you get any php errors when trying to save the extensions settings?
What kind of server are you working on? (PHP version etc.)

Not really what I’m looking for…
For example, the weblog “news” uses “URL Title”, “Formatting Buttons”, “Date Fields” and “Category Menu”.
So I have all the others disabled and they use them all (the enabled ones), always, so the tabs are just another click, I would like to go directly to “Show All”, in fact it would be better if there where no tabs at all, and the default form be like “Show All”.

I don’t see any php errors at EE, and the PHP error log at my server is empty.
I’m working at Linux Apache/2.2.8 server, PHP 5 with normal CGI.
I have tryed FastCGI too.
Is it possible that your extension expects to have all tabs enabled?
Because I notice that the settings are generated from inside the extension, I mean it shows “Trackbacks” and other tabs, that are no longer available.

No, the extension doesn’t care what tabs are available. The list you see on the settings page is hardcoded (it even shows the “Tags” tab)

I was also trying to change the default view modifying the php code inside “system\cp\cp.publish.php”.
I manage to hide the tabs, but not to display “Show All” by default, it seems this is done by javascript, but the code is more complex than I thought, haha.
The php code it’s back to it’s original file.
Does it do something when you enable the extension?
Because I had TinyCME when I enabled it, I deleted it after.

I haven’t used this in quite a while, I don’t even remember what site it was on.

But I’m testing via my local install and a few other sites I have working now.

I disabled tab forward, then the extensions, then enabled them, enabled tab forward, and still nothing, no errors displayed but it doesn’t save the changes.
It should display the php errors instantly, right?
Is there a PHP error log inside EE?
