I’m excited to release my first ExpressionEngine extension, the Control Panel Home Page Redirect. I’ve always found the EE control panel home page confusing for my clients, and usually the first thing in my instructions is sending them to a certain tab—often the one for the Structure module, but sometimes the publish or edit pages as well.

This extension allows you to redirect the home page to the control panel page of your choice, so your users will see exactly what you want them to see upon logging in (or clicking the CP Home link in the header). The settings work just like those of the “New Tab” page – type in the querystring of the control panel page you want to redirect to, save your settings, and you’re done!

Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed to the awesome ExpressionEngine Developer community. You have contributed immensely to the success of my business, and made me a much happier web developer! Keep up the great work!

Wow! I was planning on doing this exact thing a couple weeks ago. You beat me to it. Hey, it saves me the time though. Thanks! Works great. Needed it to redirect to Structure Tab. Big help for me. Thanks again!

Hi there,

Thanks for this extension, it works great!

My only question is, do you know how this extension can be used whilst also allowing users to access the Google Analytics home page panel? I thought I might be able to click the CP Home link or possibly create a new tab to link to this panel, but it seems that your extension redirects the CP Home page to the page specified in this extension’s settings. Not a huge deal, but I’ve begun to like being able to allow my clients to access that Google Analytics addon within the Control Panel so it’d be a nice-to-have if I could get the best of both Worlds here! smile

Thanks.

Hey guys, glad to hear you are enjoying the plugin!

@Stephen, right now the script just does a header redirect to the location you specify. I’m not too familiar with the Google Analytics add-on you mentioned, but I am always glad to take on new ideas and features for future builds. For right now, though, you just get the straight-up redirect, so I am not sure there will be a good solution for your question.

Thanks again!

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the reply. For info, here’s a link to the Google Analytics extension.

Thanks.
