... but the settings page for Field Formatting gives me a white screen. ...Ideas?

Hmmm, just as a starting point, can you turn on PHP error reporting?

If you open up /system/index.php, do something like this:

//error_reporting(0);
error_reporting(E_ALL);

Just to see if the plugin page for SL is giving you any PHP errors.

No errors reporting - still just a white page.

Hi,

I’ll start with the usual questions:

1. EE version & build?
2. PHP version?
3. MySQL version?
4. Third-party extensions and plugins?

Also, @grantmx mentioned having a problem with this on one site, which was then resolved (without my input). Perhaps he could shed some light on this.

Cheers,
Stephen

P.S. Thanks for your help @mhulse smile

Stephen I’m having the same problem as @ContextDesign, but I traced it to having SL Field Formatting and SmartDown installed at the same time. When I remove that plugin everything works fine.

1. EE version & build? EE 1.6.8 Build 20100121
2. PHP version? 5.2.10
3. MySQL version? 5.1.37
4. Third-party extensions and plugins? Lots, but removing SmartDown seems to let me get into SL Field Formatting. I’m having the same issue with the Plugins manager, I can’t see it when SmartDown is installed.

Hi Wes,

Stephen I’m having the same problem as @ContextDesign, but I traced it to having SL Field Formatting and SmartDown installed at the same time. When I remove that plugin everything works fine.

This sounds like an awful lot like this problem, caused by SmartDown being unable to load the required Markdown Extra and SmartyPants classes.

So, questions:
1. Have you moved the system directory to another location? Above the web root, for example?
2. Have you checked the permissions on the `smartdown` folder (and its contents) in the `plugins` directory?

Cheers,
Stephen

P.S. Once this question is resolved, I’ll be officially “closing” this thread, and moving all support to here. Just a heads-up.

Hello all,

In an attempt to keep things manageable, I’ve moved support for the Field Formatting add-on to the Experience Internet support site.

I’m still subscribed to this thread, but any future posts with be greeted with a polite request to re-post on the official support site.

Cheers,
Stephen
