No problem with the LG tinymce extension (thanks Leevi!) - but does MCimagemanger (or MCfilemanager for that matter) allow the user to insert images into the TinyMCE field rather than using a second custom field?

Can you expand on your question?

I use TinyMCE and the MCImagemanager on Planetseafishing.com.

We insert images into our text using the MCImagemanager. Its a bit of a bugger to set up (LG tinymce extension) helps in this matter, but the Image manager has to be hand configured.

Now that we have it configured here is how it works.

We have a TinyMCE field, with toolbars. Our editors click the ‘insert image’ button, it brings up a file browser that we have configured to read our image directories, they choose and image (pref medium sized) and its inserted into the document flow. They then pull and push the image to the correct size, float left, right or centre align. done.

Thanks for the info. I have TinyMCE working fine, I just wanted to make sure before I splash out $70!

It does work, and its much better than the iBrowser (free) options that I had tried before.

but the image element does require some finite config to pick up the correct directories.

I didn’t want to spend the money on it, but my editors eventually twisted my arm so much I could hear the bones snapping.
Now that it is config’d iv’ not heard a bad word from them.

Use TinyBrowser, it’s ruddy brilliant, free and pretty easy to install.  You can upload multiple images with a very nice flash uploader and then search, index edit and insert them straight into your post right where you’re editing.

It will also handle other file types (all controllable.)

I’ve posted a how-to on my blog:

I *hated* iBrowser, the least user friendly image uploader I’ve ever seen! I do love MCImageManager. Haven’t seen TinyBrowser, will look into it, thanks!

And yes, MCImageManager plants your image right into the WYSIWYG TinyMCE field. As does iBrowser, if you can ever get past hating the interface. wink

Hey,

I have tried for a couple of hours now to incorporate the tinyBrowser image support and I am not having much luck here.

I finally figured out that I needed to basically get rid of all of my tinyMCE formatting in the settings area for Tiny MCE… so, now I have the simple formatting buttons from the LG Tiny MCE sowing up. I click on the insert image button and I DO see the BROWSE option within that window. However, when I click on it, nothing happens??

Assuming I should have some other browsing window show up at this point, it’s not.

Any thoughts?
